Sipaway Island : Parana Private Beach Resort

It’s summer once again and I bet you’re looking for a good place to stay. All of us really do want to unwind and ’chillax’ as what most yuppies like me call it. It’s a typical summer day with friends. I daydreamed of lounging under the trees, enjoying the blue skies, letting the rays of the sun hit my skin while I’m sipping cocktails and listening to Bob Marley’s Caribbean Blue. Now it’s giving me a certain kind of high but my trip was not really like I imagined. There’s no shoreline, mostly concrete walls or huge rocks.

Anyways, before you all get started to get bored by my blabs, I just want to share to you my latest trip. I went to Sipaway Island in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental with my MBA classmates/friends to simply unwind and relax after a busy school year and of course a busy life at work. It’s a two and a half hour trip from Bacolod via Don Salvador Benedicto. We met up at Bacolod South Terminal and rode the Ceres Bus. You can choose a non – aircon or an aircon bus. Since we missed the 6am trip, we have no choice but to ride the non – aircon one which costs us 105php because we had our IDs thus student discount. It’s 125php for regular passengers. Unlike my travel experience to Sipalay, this trip is less exhausting maybe because I’m sleeping most of the time and missed all the breathtaking view in Don Salvador Benedicto which I appreciated better on our way home because I was wide awake the whole time. We arrived in San Carlos terminal at 9:30 and went directly to the market to buy our food and necessities. The tricycle fare costs 10php. It’s almost a 10-minuteboat ride from San Carlos port to Sipaway Island which costs 15php per head.

The trike from Sipaway Port to the resort also costs 15php. Parana Private Beach resort is owned by my MBA classmate’s highschool classmate. I forgot the name of the owner though.

The best word to describe the place would be cozy. It’s a good place to stay when you want to stay away from the hustles and bustles of our daily grind in our city life.

Highlights :

* It’s a private resort therefore you can do whatever you want to do there

image

* Cozy and clean cottages with utensils

image

* Nice and friendly caretakers
* A scenic view of the sea and Negros mountains

image

* Clear beach water

image

image

* Safe swimming area because of the walls surrounding it

image

* You’ll love the starfishes…

Lowlights:

* The island has no water supply.
* There’s no electricity, you need to pay if you would like to use the generator.
* No free wi-fi so better bring your own mobile broadband.
* Some areas are rocky so don’t expect sands like in Boracay Island

* Be careful of sea urchins…

Overall, it was a great experience. I was able to get away from my weekend routine. It’s either I’m at home or I’m out chilling with friends not wanting to go home until the sun slowly shines from the horizon. I spent one weekend away from my city life. We spent the night mostly talking, eating and drinking. We are totally focused, no phones to tinker or to check, no Facebook to update and no Foursquare to checked in to. There’s no technology involved. I remembered waking up early, no hangover or whatsoever just to see the sun rise. I walk around like a nomad… simply enjoying my lone time.

I always long for that kind of moment. I was just simply there, alone and all I can hear was Armin Van Buuren’s music in my phone enticing me to feel this moment I rarely feel back at home. My thoughts were drifting to nowhere. I feel so comfortable even if I’m alone. If only every day of my life is as peaceful as this, if only every single day is as chill as this and if only life is nothing but good vibes, no problems, no stress, no complications… if only.

09/07 – Day 289: On Sand, Booze and Fake Tattoos

Boracay — Enuf said.
A friend told me lately if we can go back this October to summer paradise and chill again just like the old times. Suddenly I can’t help my mind to stop reminiscing those good memories we had on the beach.

All those crazy card games, our wholesome drinking sessions, Marc Nelson — Boracay’s resident tourist spot (lol), solo moments while watching the beautiful sun as it sets and also the series of laugh trips plus the most stressful lunch I had, now those were my epic moments in paradise. The big catch? I got to spend it with my college yearbook friends and still my friends after 2 years. I don’t want to go back to Boracay anymore if they’re not the ones that I’ll be with though. I’ll just end up comparing the memories. Oh well, hoping for another summer blast soon!

Summer of 2010 — relived.

03/24 – Day 122: Summer!

Oh yeah finally I tried Mc Donald’s summer medley floats. It’s refreshing — YES. Well this picture is really more than that…

Let’s talk about summer, not the movie but the time of the year wherein all you want is to chill and run on the sands of the best beaches near you. You definitely have the time to do what you want to do… the freedom from school works, projects and meetings. Well, that was years ago and now I am employed to a company wherein holidays and definitely summer is not a time for us to take a break. It is still work, work and work to meet the business needs of course. Welcome to the cruel world! Oh well… life as we definitely know it.

Anyways, this summer I want to decide into something that will make my life change. Maybe try to make up my mind if I will really take up Master’s degree or not, try to venture out and look for a different career opportunities that will hone my skills and make me the best that I can be and also to be free from all the responsibilities for a week.

Retrospectively speaking, I just want to try something different, my ability is on a par with my ambitions. What I have now is something I can enjoy for the moment but I know this will not last for long. My mind may be into it because I want to excel in everything that I do but I can never cheat my heart. I tried to fall in love with my work but then I am here because I fell for someone. Oh, it did not make sense — just don’t mind me I’m blabbing again. Sorry!

Summer — right.

Day 122 is awesome because of the USLS – CRCY Senior’s Tribute. I salute all the seniors who dared to make a difference, who spent their free time doing worthwhile humanitarian activities all for the love of Red Cross and who never quit despite all the odds. The odds indeed was in their favor though. They surpassed it all victoriously. Thank you to those who were inspired by my impromptu speech. It’s been a while since the last time I gave one but whatever it was that I have said last night, I mean it. All the good memories you had — cherished it and all the struggles you have faced on the way — just smile as you have overcome it. I hope that graduation is not the end of it all. Please do continue to take care of other people and support the causes of the premiere humanitarian organization. I just can’t let go of something so inspiring… who I am today is a product of what I have learned from my past.

This is the start of my summer. The time wherein I am inspired to inspire. Live. Laugh. Love.

P.S.: I’m thinking of an awesome beach trip… WHERE TO? 🙂

02/29 – Day 98: February Ends with a Beng!

Today, I decided to do all the things that I want to do especially if I am travelling and the only difference is that I am still in my hometown. I tried to go to the mall and shop, relax by having a spa date with myself, discover a new coffee haven in the middle of the busy streets of Bacolod and just enjoyed the life of being alone and being a stranger in a very familiar place.

FilRus coffee bar offers Krispy Kreme donuts! I remembered how badly we craved for KK since we do not have one store here and everything is just based on orders and reservations which is so tedious. I bought couple of boxes when I went to Manila just to suffice my cravings last January but then this coffee bar offers it how exciting as I already know a place where I can go to when I craved for KK donuts. Anyways, let’s go back on what made this day awesome. I realized that by being alone, it really gave me a lot of time to think and appreciate myself more.

I will try to check out all the coffee bars in Bacolod — I shall add this on my Bucket List. So far I have been to the following:

  1. FilRus
  2. Bob’s
  3. Piettro
  4. Kuppa
  5. Felicias
  6. Starbucks
  7. Dunkin Donuts
  8. Mc Donalds
  9. Buglas
  10. O’Hotel
  11. Business Inn
  12. Miren
  13. C’s
  14. Calea
  15. Bascon Cafe
  16. Seattle’s Best in Manila
  17. Organic Restaurant
  18. Museum Cafe

Hmmm… I am still thinking of places where I can have coffee and chill that I may not have listed. Any suggestions of the best coffee bars in Negros?

So far, I love the chill atmosphere in Buglas and Starbucks. The fastest wi-fi connection can be found at Filrus and the laidback ambiance of Piettro, Felicias and Kuppa. Coffee love… indeed. The best way to distress is to chill alone and think things over while sipping the best macchiatto or frappe ever! 🙂

Happy end of February to Me! ♥

Time to celebrate… February is soooo over. Month of hearts is finally over, I am so back to being happy! 🙂

02/28 – Day 97: High Noon

I saw the sun. I miss this life when I simply do nothing but just chill. I really take every chance to clear my mind and appreciate all the little things in life. Time is so luxurious when you already living beyond the four corners of the classroom. As much as I missed the lunch breaks and the fun of being a student, I also enjoy the freedom and the life of being a young adult. Finally, I earn on my own. I don’t need to depend on my parents to survive. Today, I celebrate my freedom under the scorching heat of the sun! Summer is so here. 😀
